Hey, !
Ā
Can you believe
Christmas is just over two weeks away?! Have you started any preparations yet, like putting up the tree and the decorations?
Ā
I'd say I'm a keen interior decorator. There are a few things I consider when setting up a Christmas tree at home:
Ā
Size
While I yearn for a towering tree, I make sure to prioritize practicality and ensure that the tree fits harmoniously within my space. I
ensure a delicate balance between my love for grand Christmas displays and the need for a cozy and functional living area.
Ā
Alignment
I have always had a preference for center-aligned Christmas trees since it creates a focal point and adds a sense of balance to the room. However, it is crucial to consider how each alignment looks in a specific living space. While a center aligned tree may work well in a spacious room with symmetrical arrangements, a corner placement might be more suitable for a smaller room or an area with limited floor space.
Ā
Consistency
I believe that a cohesive and uniform theme adds an element of elegance and charm to the festive atmosphere. From carefully selecting ornaments and
other little decorations, I ensure that each piece complements the overall aesthetic harmoniously throughout my home.
Ā
Proximity
Arranging Christmas tree ornaments proportionally is vital to achieving an elegant and cohesive aesthetic. It allows for a visually pleasing arrangement where the eye can easily flow from one ornament to the next, without any distracting gaps or overcrowded areas.Ā
Ā
Color
š£ļø Story time!!!
Just like everyone, I also went overboard with Black Friday shopping. I want to share an
incident from that day that reminded me of how color can influence decisions. In a certain store, I was asked to choose a gift box for an item that I had purchased for my mum. There were about 5-6 variations of gift boxes arranged aesthetically on a wall. For some reason, the red and green one caught my eye despite red and green not being my favorite colors.
Ā
During checkout, the lady mentioned how she liked my selection of the gift box. I said, "Yeah! I love how Christmasy it is".Ā
She then said, "I agree. But would you have chosen this if it wasn't the Christmas season?"
Ā
Hmm.. nah! I wouldn't have chosen it.Ā
Ā
While color alone may not determine decisions, it can play a subtle
yet influential role in shaping our perceptions and choices.
Ā
Negative space
It is the empty space in a
design that surrounds and separates different elements by adding a sense of elegance and sophistication. It allows the eye to rest and helps highlight the important elements in a space. Without whitespace, designs can appear cluttered, overwhelming, and visually unappealing.Ā
Ā
As much as I love lavish decorations, I'm also a huge minimalist. I like to keep things minimal with enough breathing space so that the main focal point gets all the attention.
