How many times have you lost track of important everyday items like your keys or wallet? I've literally had panic attacks when I almost lost my wallet twice in my own house. Ever since, I designated a dedicated spot for the most used and important items in my day-to-day life. I'm sure you have done that too!
I lived in my previous apartment for two whole years, and I was so used to the placement of items in the kitchen.
- Salt and olive oil placed on the right-hand side just beside the stove so they're easy to grab.
- My morning Yogi tea was the first thing I'd see when I opened the right-most cabinet.
- All my spices arranged in the top cabinet in the order of usage so I don't have to spend time searching for what I want to use.
Now I moved to a new apartment which is a larger space with more storage. I had randomly organized things really well but soon realized how the new patterns affected my productivity. I eventually decided to reorganize everything to match my old patterns, and now things feel much more functional and easy.
That's how we all like it right, for things to be "easy".
A quick rapid fire for you. See if you can visualize the placement of these items without using your brain -
Where can you find bread in your kitchen? Where is the cruise control button in your car? Do you remember the layout of your childhood home? Can you navigate yourself to your bedroom without using your brain?

locate the Instagram app on your phone within 2 seconds? I bet you did that in less than 2 seconds. 😉
I'm sure you don't have trouble remembering these landmarks as you were or are still accustomed to their positioning. This is called "spatial memory" 🧠
